Made circa 1965, this wonderful bowl shows how Constantinidis' work had developed from a rather traditional manner in the early 1950s towards something much more modern. Influenced by the work of Lucie Rie and Hans Coper, her work in the 60s shows great purity of form and decoration and these mottled glazes, in both dark and light tones, are typical of her pots in this period. Into the 1970s her ceramics would become very sculptural, with tall and sinuous forms and rich brown and coppery glazes predominating.
